Lemania Chronograph

Hello all, this is my first time posting on the forums so excuse me if I am in the wrong place to ask this question. I have found a Lemania watch left by my grandfather. Even though it is not an Omega, I have found that Lemania movements were used by Omega at some point, so I hope this is the correct palace. The watch is in a bad condition. The dial and the arms are heavily corroded. Even though the watch cannot be winded, arms can be rotated with the dial. My aim is to identify this watch and get it restored. This watch has a great sentimental value for me, so I am keen to get it properly restored. I am not a watch person nor has any knowledge about vintage watches therefore any suggestions are welcome to what to get restored on this watch (for example the dial?)
Many thanks.

You will need to take it to a watchmaker with experience servicing vintage watches. Generally dial’s cannot be restored without high risk of removing text and lacquer but watchmaker should know. Good luck. If you share your location maybe someone has a recommendation who to take it to.

Great watch to have passed down to you and it should clean up nicely. Now you have to take us a load of pictures including the the inside to verify the movement

The dial and hands aren't too bad, IMO. They have a lot of vintage charm, so I would suggest leaving them alone. Just get the watch serviced/repaired so it's operational. Search the forum for recommended watchmakers in the UK, it's one of the most common questions.

i believe inside it youll find the very rare caliber 15tl. Your grandfathers watch is quite valuable and dates to around 1930-1955. I have the same watch which is why i recognize ir. Its a large case if its the same model, as the 15tl movement is 34mm wide by itself. Probably worth 6-8k

If that watch is 6-8k, how would you value mine? 😀

Beautiful watch. I would not want to restore it too much. You can easily lose the look that makes it sentimental. A service to the movement, no polishing the case, and a quick clean, are what I'd go for.

I hope you get to wear it and enjoy the memories it brings with it.

Yours is obviously in better condition. So the higher end of that estimate. Was the case and dial restored its remarkably clean!

Absurd valuations and then backhanded criticism of a longtime member’s watch. That’s an introduction alright.

Questions aren't criticism… As far as valuation, search ebay or chrono24 the two largest second hand markets for watches in the world for the lemnai 15tl , the prices i quoted line up. A movement alone will run you over 1,200. You may find some below that price and some above, but the majority are in that range. i wont entertain any more posts meant to trigger a reaction or sidetrack the original posters message. He has a beautiful watch thats sentimental to him and quite rare.

Suggesting that someone’s amazing and original watch is restored is obnoxious beyond belief. Everyone saw what you did there, and that you doubled down on it instead of apologizing says a lot.

Regarding value, asking prices on eBay and C24 are totally meaningless. That’s not how valuation is done. No problem though, those of us who actually own, buy, and sell watches know what they are worth.
