Good evening :) This is my first post here apparently. I just bought this Lemania on Ebay. I'm really bad when it comes to vintage watches but I loved the look of it... Can anybody confirm that this model really exists or is it rather a self-made-thing?

Thanks a lot for your help, and kind regards from Switzerland :)

It's a Lemania version of an Omega Speedmaster MarkIII 176.002.
Movement number date it to 1976-77.
They were probably cheaper than the Omega version but are very rare.

That happened quite often, here uis an other example of a Lemania version of an Omega Big Blue 176.004:

One issue that immediately comes to mind is the Omega crown on the bullhead above, instead of the cross hatch logo that I'm used to seeing on a Lemania crown. There are worse watches to buy impulsively though!

Thanks a lot for your help. My google skills are not too bad I guess, but unfortunately I couldn't find the exact model anywhere :D
And the Omega logo there made me a little bit suspicious too.
I haven't officially paid for it yet - thats why I thought it might be good to get some advice in advance :)

I struggle with the reference numbers on the Lemania-branded chronographs. I unfortunately have more questions than answers...my reactions to this one:

    1. The crown, I suspect, is not original...
2....unless, that midcase is from an Omega too. I suspect there's a chance that the crown and midcase do not go with that caseback. Ref. 9801 is most often seen with a cushion shaped case....
    3. Which movement is that actually, 1340 or 1341? The OP watch shows Incabloc shock protection which is more typical of 1340, but has the rotor shape more common to 1341. And my experience is that Lemania-branded chronos usually had 1341...Some info on the differences between 1040, 1340, and 1341 here.

    Paging @Northernman , our resident Lemaniac :D

Cross hatched crowns are correct for EPSA super compressor cases only.
    Helmet on the case back.

Other Lemanias had a mix of blank or logo crowns.

Saw the watch in question. It's a Franken IMHO. Great looking, but it is not correct according to my findings.
Ref 9801 has nothing to do with the pilot style case. @Andy K is right in pointing out that 9801 should be cushion shaped.

As information is scarce, to say the least, I can not rule out that Lemania never issued a pilot styled case, but the case ref does not make sense.

    Cheers
