I am very interested with Lemania 15TL Two Register Chronograph from the 1940 - 1950, but haven't found a thread dedicated to the knowledge of these watches.

I am particularly interested with the stainless steel 38MM black dial, pump pusher, cobra hands, screw back version. But I hope others can add more information on other model as well.

I hope this thread can be some kind of collective references for Lemania 15TL Chronograph lovers.

Based on my short search last night (on the 38MM black dial, pump pusher, cobra hands, screw back version), I found several forum but not in English, but thanks to Microsoft URL translator I am able to collect these texts in English. Some points summarized from those texts and pictures are:

    1. Non Military 38MM Pump Pusher, Not Signed, Kronos Forum (Italian)
    http://kronos.freeforums.org/info-per-acquisto-lemania-15-tl-almost-nos-t1805.html
    http://www.microsofttranslator.com/bv.aspx?from=&to=en&a=http://kronos.freeforums.org/info-per-acquisto-lemania-15-tl-almost-nos-t1805.html (ENGLISH)

This discussion is about Lemania 15TL Chronograph ca. 1940-1950, 38MM, round case, pump pusher, black dial, non-military assigned.
Movement and case-back NOT signed Lemania, which seems to be common.
I have read on OROLOGI Italian forum that only 20% of 15TL signed Lemania.

This discussion is about Lemania 15TL Chronograph ca. 1940-1950, 38MM, round case, pump pusher, black dial, military assigned (RLM-Nav).
Movement and case-back pictures not available.
Outer case-back signed RLM-Nav which is Reichs-Luftfahrt-Ministerium = Air Ministry

Notice that the first and second watch is the same model as posted on KRONOS forum above, but with RLM-Nav engraved, these 2 watches were military assigned.

This discussion is about Lemania 15TL Chronograph both on military and non military content. Also mentioned the OVAL pushers version.
Tissot seems to also uses this 15TL movement on their Chronograph.
Movement and case-back NOT signed Lemania, which seems to be common.
Mentioned in this OROLOGI Italian forum that only 20% of 15TL signed Lemania.

Please feel free to contribute by replying to this thread if you have pictures of your Lemania 15TL Chronograph: the watches, the dial, the movement, the story

NOT limited to 38MM round pushers only, other variants for Lemania 15TL will also be good for knowledge archive

    Thanks!

    Hi.
Very nice collection of info on the 15TL. Thanks for sharing!
I own a few caliber 15 watches. 15CHT - mono pusher, as used amongst others, RAF/RN, and the two pusher 15TL.

My first 15TL came as a "project". Background unknown. The hands were wrong, so I had "MoD" hands fitted. I believe it should have had cathedral style hands as on my second sample.

    IMG_2248.JPG IMG_2250.JPG IMG_2251.JPG IMG_2252.JPG IMG_2253.JPG IMG_2254.JPG

The second one comes with a story:
I bought it from a person in Austria.
He had inherited the watch from his grandfather, who served in a German Wehrmacht alpine regiment stationed in Northern Norway during WWII.
After the war his grandfather eventually went on working for the allies, and later NATO.
It has not been confirmed if the watch was a personal/privately owned watch or issued. The lack of markings on the case back suggests the first, but it may very well also have been removed later.
It would not have been very acceptable to wear artefacts with markings from the "Third reich" in his later job.

Unfortunately the seller had the watch serviced before I bought it. The watchmaker re-lumed the hands, but fortunately did not touch anything else. (Confirmed by the service receipt I got with it).
I had a correct crown fitted later (as can be seen in the last shot).
Sorry I do not have a movement shot available right now.

    Thank you, please do :)
Seems calibre 15TL chronograph is not too common, but it is indeed beautiful, it needs more exploration

Beautiful collection my friend, and I agree with your statement above...
I have incoming 15TL without military engraving fortunately ;)

How odd a Lemania watch did not carry Lemania signed movements. Good to know as I would have flagged a watch a frankenwatch watch due to that.

    Great write up.

    Thanks!!

I thought the same thing, but since multiple 15TL movement examples found with no engraving with the same case dial hands case-back configurations and their military tool association, no engraving seems understandable.

The comment of only approximately 20% of 15TL chronograph signed from Orologi Forum also explains it.

Would love to see more pictures of the 15TL movement from OF member :)

Is there a specific reason for the 15TL focus compared to the 15CHT and 22xx calibers?
They're very much the same breed.

Unsigned is correct for series 1 UK issued 15CHT. They also have vanilla dials.

Cal 15 would normally be guilt and wo shock protection. Cal 22xx is silver coloured and with shock protection.
There are some transitional variations I think, but I guess one can use this as a good rule of thumb.

@Northernman , do you classify the first three of your pictures above as 15CHT, and the last as a 15TL?

The last two are cal 2221 and 2240.
Lemania startes using 4 digit designations late 40s.

One of the rarest of the 15/22xx calibers might be the 2225.
Base caliber 15/22xx but really not a chronograph in the strictest sense.

    IMG_0439.JPG IMG_2283.JPG

When you push the "chronograph pusher" the sweep seconds hand reverts to the "zero/12 o'clock" position like a fly-back chronograph would do,
The setting crown is, by the same press of the button, popped out.
Since the movement is hacking (stopping when the crown is in the out position), you have a sweep seconds hand that is zeroed, and you can set your desired time.

The clock starts running again at the exact time the crown is pressed back in.

In practical use this is great. If a group of people carrying these watches meet, they can all synchronize their watches to the second very easily.

@danton lovely 15tl, Sorry but my Russian based understanding is very very limited. From your other post you mention it's a family piece. As such it's perfect, take good care of the watch.

Please note it is NOT waterproof!!! No dish/car washing. No swimming or showering with it on.
Another note it's NOT shock protected!!! So don't wear when you go mountain biking or motorbiking.

I would recommend you to get it serviced if you indent to wear it regularly. Make sure you the watchmaker understands only to service movement. Not to interfer with "soul" of the watch.

So what can you share about you grandfather? How did he get the watch?

    Cheers
