Anyone have any new info on the LUT? I just received the Saturn V as a gift and the LUT would be a great way to display it. On a separate note, anyone see this life size recreation of Buzz Aldrin’s Apollo 11 spacesuit: https://www.space.com/lego-builds-apollo-11-life-size-moonwalker.html
Same here. The set was not authorized by the designer. He sent it to LEGO Ideas as a suggestion to build this as kit but LEGO declined. Then he put all of the building plans in the internet. And Vonado took the plans and his pictures without authorization. The LEGO parts can be ordered as original parts for 300 to 400 Dollar, much more expensive than the Vonado Kit. So the model will probably not use original LEGO Parts. When it ever will be delivered. Let´s wait and see.
I thought vonado buys bricks in bulk then puts the parts together. :edit: Ok research does not bode well for these guys.
I’m inclined to agree with you I’m still optimistic but will keep everyone up to date if I end up requesting a PayPal refund.

Okay - so I open the pack, and there's a little part of me hoping, just hoping, it's going to be official lego,.......and of course, it isn't. I think we all knew that really. Hence my delay in updating. So now I'm torn - we're on a watch forum, and we hopefully, have similar viewpoints of homage/fake/copied goods. Do I post progress? Do I leave this as my last post on the LUT.... I'm leaning more to the latter. I will say, the quality is reasonable, not Lego quality obviously. As part of my penance, I did track down one of the original designers of the LUT - here - , and ask if she was open to sharing the original design. Thankfully she was, and I was able to make a small donation to a destination of her choice. I have started building it. But I feel bad with each brick I add, but, it does look like it's going to be an awesome build.
@BatDad As long as it doesn’t say Lego I’m sure it’s ok. There are a few knock offs out there that are interchangeable. You can find them in department stores sometimes.
So bad that LEGO decided not to make this project. It was offered to them via LOGO Ideas. There are only a few bricks that are under copyright and most of the bricks are "free" for use because the patent is too old. So there are a lot of companies like Xingbao and Cobi which are producing similar models with "clamping building blocks" very similar to LEGO. The figures are still restricted and some customs like the one in Germany are confiscating models with those elements and figures. So there is no reason to feel bad because of a set with non LEGO parts. Of course it would be better with original LEGO but if you buy all the parts at those shop where you can find every single brick this set would cost 500$ or more. The only thing is, that they did not ask the developer first and used his free online instructions to make money with it without permission and that is the only bad thing. Not the parts, the idea was copied. You donated him, so it should be a fair deal now. Please show your progress here, @BatDad . THX.
Okay - so I’m enjoying the build. I’m going to share. Full disclosure for the mods: it’s not Lego. I’ve donated to the owner of the IP. If you already have the set , I’m sure you’re enjoying. This week I’ve bought some extra reinforcements for the base from bricklink - and I did have one(x10) peice missing in the set that are now on their way from BL sellers. I have 11 more floors to go before the top swing arm!!! This is a fun set. I really don’t know why Lego didn’t produce this.
Still a lot more prices to go. I now have to sit down to get the pieces for the next floor. Then stand up to build em. First world problems.
