36 inch tall Saturn 5! http://gizmodo.com/live-out-your-astronaut-dreams-with-legos-meter-tall-na-1794714699 Pretty neat and as far as cost to size in the Lego world only $120 is not to bad.
That's absolutely awesome as is, but it'd be too cool if the Lego men could actually sit in it! Might still think about buying it. Love how they designed it with exactly 1969 pieces
I love this kit... will be putting in an order with the local Lego store in the morning. And I'll just leave these here too...
The only thing that keeps me from continuing to buy and build Lego sets is the lack of space to put them in.... Well, that and the lack of innovative design these last couple years. Every new airplane / helicopter / truck / tractor is built with two or three main, specialized pieces. It was a lot more fun actually building these things when I was young, as opposed to just assembling them now. Still, if I ever get mega rich I think my mansion will have a room for Lego sets.
Same here limited space. I've got a few of the mid size Star Wars ones that are out of production, and some of the architectural series. I wanted the great 911 one they put out, but it sold out fast.
In college, I bought a crane truck (the first non-Tehcnic one that was actually able to lift things) and an airliner that I turned into an AWACS, but after I moved back to New York I couldn't keep them, so they sat in a closet at my mom's house til she moved out and donated them or whatnot. As a kid I'd never had any interest in non-playable Legos (models and robotics etc, the kind that weren't designed for the little Lego men) and still can't see myself buying a set like that, hence why I haven't already bought this Saturn V. Sets like these I loved!
Me too. I have a lot full of Star Wars Lego kits up in the loft. The only kits I have built, and out on display is my Indiana Jones truck (with ark) and a technic F1 car I have a grail Lego set - I lusted after the classic galaxy explorer (928) when I was a kid: http://lego.wikia.com/wiki/928_Galaxy_Explorer It would have been the perfect companion to my very first set - the moon base with the monorail http://lego.wikia.com/wiki/6970_Beta-1_Command_Base It's strange how I can justify spending ££££'s on a watch... but get hung up on £££s or vintage plastic building blocks.
I had both those sets! I also collected the rest of the space series. I had a huge table in my basement that had everything set up on it and spent untold hours imagining I was exploring the universe. Wonderful memories.
Service dial, wrong bracelet (look at those links) incorrect hands, distinct lack of pushers... On that note, I have a Dark Side of the Moon to sell you...
My wife loves lego. Just bought the new vw beetle, she likes the executive sets so she has lots of those. I get to find all the pieces, while she is chief builder.
