Actually, I wonder if it is better for the people faking these watches to fake something like this, then a real moonwatch. I bet the due diligence on the buyers part is a lot lower and I bet they can get away with selling a lot more of them. I also bet the cost of faking the quartz movement is fractions of a penny on the dollar.
The demand for these was pretty high, and I don't mean this insultingly but somebody who is already willing to buy something that is essentially a replica, it might not be a stretch to say that there's some portion of that group that is willing to buy a replica of a replica.
