    Hi all

I am a newbie and could use a little help with identifying if this is a legit Seamaster, which is advertised as 1966, 562 movement, yellow gold. I only have pictures from the outside and unfortunately not very good ones. I have no serial numbers yet, but could probably get them before buying.

The watch is offered for 2000 USD.

From the research I have done I have not seen another dial like this, however the fonts look original AFAIK.

Thanks for any hints in advance!

    Matt

Don't think it's a redial but $2000 is awfully strong, even for a gold Seamaster.

Thanks so far, aga79 and Hijak. I now have the reference number of the case: 230 26 230

However, I couldn't find anything on the Omega vintage database. Can someone make sense out of the reference number?

The swiss made text seems to be covered by the retainer ring, or is it just the pictures?

Hi Jelle, no the Swiss Made is well legible, it's the pictures.

I today got 2 more pics from the seller, one from the caseback (although a pretty bad picture, one can hardly read the numbers) and one from the movement.

There's "750" stamped in the caseback, so it really is 18k as advertised.

There's 166.001 stamped in the caseback, and a search on the Omega vintage DB pulls up a picture of a ref 166.0013 1961 Seamaster Special with a pretty similar dial (same dauphine hands, same indexes, same bevelled date window), although the Seamaster script is a different one, i.e. the earlier and correct one for 1961 if am right, and no crosshairs. However there is only a stainless steel one described and no solid gold variant. Does that mean a solid gold variant would not have existed? And what about the crosshairs?

Or it could be 166.0001, which leads to a 1962 calibre 562 18k solid gold variant, but with stick hands. So probably the hands have been exchanged at some point, could that be?

The movement is the correct 562, looks clean to me and the number 230 26 230 points to 1966, if I am right. However, that would not coincide with the 1961 or 1962 listing from the Omega database. Does such a listing on the Omega database mean that the case in question was only produced in 1961/62 or starting from 1961/62?

    More thoughts always welcome!
