No crystal, no hands, scratched face... my dad’s watch. He forgot how much he valued his watches when he got the Alzheimer’s. I don’t know if this is redialed, worth bringing back to life, or what. Any advice is welcomed. Sorry for the crappy phone photos. 52396D1F-351D-4809-960F-788C4DDA9DED.jpeg 50140951-44BD-4D1C-900B-FA6D4CC7AE85.jpeg

Alzheimer's is the worst. Body is there but the mind isn't. Very sorry for your situation. :(
A picture of the movement would help determine the extent of repair needed.
Have you given it a shake to see if anything happens? Give it a wiggle like a frisbee and check to see if the seconds hand advances.

Shook it around a bit. Second hand is moving. With the crown in the case back, I don’t think I’m the right person to open it.

A strong second for Zaf, the owner of Classicwatch.com.

Hands do turn up on eBay from time to time, but I think you may also need a cannon pinion.

I'm not sure about the dial. Pictures are not sharp and the "Futurematic" script tended to be used on later watches with the 817 (Porthole) movement. However, you can never say never with these as there were many, many variations.

    Good luck with the project.

Thanks for the replies. Much appreciated. I’ll take better photos and check out Zaf’s site when I get home. Not excited about the expense of a project watch, but it will be nice to get this one up and running.

I’m leaning towards not being a redial. If your father owned as new or at least bought it many years ago it wouldn’t have needed the dial to be redone and the with the value of these watches at the time it wouldn’t have made sense to put too much into them. I think the sentimental value alone is worth the money to fix it up and I don’t think it’ll be as much as you think.

Now that I'm home here are some more photos. I'll be checking in at classicwatch.com as well, and I'm sure I'll be getting it in order just because, you know, that's how it should be. Thanks all!

I should also mention that the second hand is running just fine, and when I wear it it winds.
