Long story short, my watchmaker has this sitting at his shop and hasn't had much luck finding a replacement dial. I offered to make a post about it seeing if anyone happened to have one. I know it may be a shot in the dark but it doesn't hurt to ask.

It looks as if someone took nail polish to it at some point.

Why not send it off for a refinish while you look?

He is considering that but would rather have an original if possible, and it's also not very high on his priority list. We just happened to talk about it while I was in today. Also considering the fact that it may be a porcelain dial the nail polish could potentially be removed.

Definitely not a porcelain dial. Since I see a notch at 12 on the dial, my guess is that a very poor refinish job done many years ago deteriorated badly over the years.

Black dials on LeCoultres tend to be more common than for other 1950's watches and also hold up better than most:

You need to be careful with replacement dials. Sometimes they fit the movement and not the case and other times it's the other way around.

    Good luck with the search.
