I came across this Lebois and Co stamped Tri-Compax and wanted to know if anyone knew the history or connection that these two watch makers had, if they had any at all. If anyone could shed some light on this I'd greatly appreciate it! I've been looking for a Tri-Compax or something similar for a while and definitely want to know if I should steer clear.
This looks like a redial to me (10 going into subdial, 11 eating days). Also the movement looks very dirty and the bridge is not signed.
That's not a Tri Compax nor a UG And Yes, is a redial but is a redialed Lebois & Co with nothing of UG on it
No good... - Dial is obviously redone. - Case is heavily polished. Lebois signature looks rough and inaccurate (could be also later addition). Swiss "Helvetia" hallmark is buffed away. - Pushers and crown are very worn. - Movement looks oxidised and dirty. Bridge is unsigned. I am afraid that this watch has nothing in common neither with Lebois & Co, nor with UG and should be treated as project watch.
The watch has nothing to do with UG. It is a Lebois & Co powered by a very legitimate Venus 184, which is basically a Venus 175 with hour counter and date and moon phase. Also some rare Breitling Chronomats had this movement. To my eyes the watch clearly looks in need of attention (especially the movement) and the case has been clearly polished before, but other than that and other that it has nothing to do (but rightly so) with UG, it looks legitimate to me, including the dial that I don't think is a redial but fully original, even though not of the highest quality.
Mikrolisk records that Lebois & Co was a registered wordmark of Dodane SA (Glacis d'Arenes 21, Besancon, France), registered in 1934. The resurrected brand exists today: http://www.leboisandco.com/history-heritage/
