Or it may just be that it looks best on bracelet, as some suggested.

I use this watch as an "all-arounder", a dressier one than the Polar Explorer II in 42 mm, my true everyday watch.

    Thanks for inputs everyone.

Nice two watch collection. I just flipped my Polar E2 - it was a great watch. I think a good padded back alligator (Hirsch has nice leather embossed strap - the Grand Duke ~ $74 USD) strap on the Seamaster would look fantastic.

I'm very happy with my Black Label Crown & Buckle ( I LOVE ordering from them!) strap on my Railmaster (on the right, obviously) which is similar to your AT:

You have chosen 2 great watches as favorites. If I had to choose just 2 of my small collection, I would most likely go with these. I love the orange 24 hand of the 216570, but I'm afraid the 42mm would be too much for my 7-1/4" wrist:

(the strap on the Railmaster here is a Dapper leather strap from Clockwork Synergy. I've had lot's of great straps from them as well.

I tried leather on my AT and keep going back to the bracelet.

The AT/RM's are so versatile and they look great either way. I find that the leather strap highlights the case more, but with that being said I'm wearing my RM on the braclet right now and I'm loving it. Lately, I've been very safe from the temptation of buying a vintage Railmaster....although the prices of the vintage RM's has also been a major obstacle too (fortunately!)

Yeah, not sure why I'm not wearing mine on leather really, just one of those things.

Maybe it's the size ( mine us the master coaxial?) or maybe it's just my head

Maybe your strap isn't the best match...how about posting a photo?

I have it on steel now. Would have to look see if I have any. For sure on the what are you wearing today thread there are some. If there's a common denominator on my posts is strap changes.

    I do like the bracelet

Different watch, I know. Same basic shape and dial.

    But leather does look good.

For me, the watch just comes alive on the strap. Nice strap @nobel-prize.

    Nic pics.

This is the kind of response I was hoping to generate with this thread I posted:

    Butt doesn't take off.
Ok, as I said before, I think a nice strap shows off the shape of the case. The steel bracelet on the other hand being the same color and a continuation of the case, emphasizes the dial like a picture frame. In the case of the AT/RM both the case and the dials are so well designed and tasteful that both a strap and the bracelet look great!

I am usually in the - watch looks better on the bracelet camp, but in the case the Railmaster - it does not have a contrasting bezel so the bracelet creates this monolithic metal ring around the wrist with only the dial to differentiate the watch. I like what @DIV says and agree. I guess that issue tips it for this watch in favor of the strap option. I always try to create 3 areas of interest or work with 3 colors - kind of a rule of 3 always seems to work well together. If you have a black bezel - you still usually get the 3 colors or 3 areas of interest. With the SS bezel on the Railmaster you lose one and I think the strap adds it back. Anyway its a great looking watch. You really can't go wrong.

good comments...especially "you really can't go wrong"...I have yet to see a strap that detracts from the RM's esthetics...but I suppose someone might find a bad combination...?

I like the RIOS Nomos replacement straps on Panatime.com. Brown is pictured below and I have a black one also.
