    Hello,

as part of my learning on vintage omegas, I thought I would ask one question about this particular model (cal.630, from 1966):

I have seen "swiss made" and "T swiss made T", but this is the first I see only one T:
is this a sign of a bad redial (the dial looks quite clean overall)?

thank you in advance for sharing your thoughts on this.

2 Ts with a T either side of Swiss made usually means lume on hands and dial. Only 1 T usually means lume on only one.

(Not 100% this is actually the correct rule as there is a few theory's I have heard ove the years.)

That’s familiar, I think I sold that a couple of months ago.

the most important things to learn about this topic are:

    1) there are no hard and fast rules re: one or two

    2) unless there are other reasons to suspect a redial, don't worry about whether there are one or two

    3) if you find any T on a radium dial, however, run away!

    Thank you all,
Another little learning bit for me !

Padders, it does look like yours indeed!
Were you happy with it? I have read somewhere that the 600 series is a bit like the manual version of the 5xx series of automatic calibers (in terms of reliability and accuracy).
Probably a bit of a generalization, but what is your experience with it? I think the one in this thread is cal. 630, but I am also looking at cal. 601.

    Thank you for your reply,

And thank you also for the useful link!
The vendor did highlight the fact that the size is 31.5 mm.

I am looking for a present for my girlfriend, so this could work- it may be a good idea to get her into vintage Omegas, to "buy" myself more time and room to manoeuvre in the world of watch collecting.

It is for sale on eBay, but the asking price seems a bit steep, at £ 675.00.

I don't know why this wrong concept is still spreading around.

It might not actually be my old one, I have seen another just like it on there right now so there are obviously a few about. I think its a bit steep at that money IMO. I would want it at half that. The other one I saw was up at £365. Search on "Omega Seamaster De Ville Manual Wind Circa 1963" to find it.

Because those have been seen in higher numbers then a lumed dial with lumed hands and a single T.

Hence it’s not a hard and fast rule. The other theory is that it has less total lume therefore a single T

    Show me some please.

(cannot believe that with only lume on hour markers, people still can tell time in the dark)

Only need lume on hands to tell time. Lots of examples have been posted here.

I am dubious about the T’s theory mentioned above, in the main Omega put lume on both dial and hands or neither. The watch shown by the OP and myself above has lume on both the hands and dial so does not support that explanation for the the single T. I have now seen enough to be satisfied this is the configuration it left the factory with. It seems that often Omega did whatever they liked regarding tritium dial Ts, one, two or in the the very early 60s and early 90s none. I suppose it is possible they used a single T to denote less tritium used but I wonder what the 1, 2 cut off was.
