Latest Unique Valet

I have made enough of them now that I hope to display them here on one thread. A regular valet is so easy to make. I have enjoyed making them at a slow pace and giving them a unique touch.

Can you guess the watch it represents? The case and lugs are polished. The shroud of Turin valet… The large Omega Forum get together valet… used in Detroit and travelling to the Mid Atlantic event soon. The word search valet… And the wooden box valet. This is the only one that I have kept. I use it every night. I am not sure why we even call these “valet”, but then again… “deployant” (and it’s commonly frowned upon deployment) makes no sense either.

Thanks for looking. This last photo looks like a Halloween decoration…

Those all look awesome. The last one - I was thinking a Seamaster 1948 but the hands look like a Heritage or PO but neither has small seconds.

I think we can probably guess who the latest one is for as well. Very nice work!

With all that radium, I probably should have challenged Steve’s exceptional leather crafting skills and asked him to make a lead lined valet. 😎 No doubt that he would have risen to the challenge.

That is so close to my ideal GADA watch - if only it was available in 39-41mm

I believe that would be the Railmaster. Not identical to the Ranchero, but similar in design and with a larger case.

The Railmaster comes close; the 300 Heritage comes a little closer but not quite. My ideal watch would have applied, polished numerals, glossy dial in blue or black -possibly silver in sunburst. 39-41mm for my 8.6 inch paw.

I thought about frankensteining an SMP 300M with ceramic bezel and a 42mm PO Ti, use the dial and hands of the PO on the SMP but it wouldn't work even with financial caution in the wind, due to the date window in different positions. That would be quite the ideal combo for me.

When I find that watch, Duracuir1 will definitely be hearing from me for a special valet...

I own the Seamaster 300 Heritage and it is a spectacularly good watch. Highly recommended.

Love all the work you are doing with the valets. Another great thing about OF is people not only sharing their knowledge through posts, but also sharing their talent with things they can make. Well done! Really beautiful - please keep sharing your creations.

It is a great contender that's been tugging at me lately. I regret getting the SMP 75th Anniversary instead of the 300, thinking it was too similar to my PO. I'm now realizing I'm not a fan of the round indices. I'm thinking of posting up to see if someone will trade me but the new Speedy Racing is also tugging at me.

Duracuir1 I don't mean to derail your thread - I greatly admire your work and I will hit you up for a special project when the time comes.

Fantastic skill involved & really like the Valets , but got sidetracked & I’m now doing the word search & found Omega , Timex , Universal , Bulova & Sinn so far . I’ve also noticed you've included yourself also 👍

Completed today for a member who sent me a few pics of his subject watch.

I transferred the image to leather. I am not sure how durable the image will be.

The valet itself will last. It has three layers of chocolate coloured leather. It involved a lot of stitching so I used my circa 1913 Singer 29 with green thread.

Beautiful work, Steve. Can you make one for Collin that looks like this? 😁

And here we have a very coddled Ranchero being proudly displayed in its newly arrived valet. 😀

It’s really pretty cool that stuff like this is happening via this forum. These valets look very nice and practical. I wouldn’t mind having one for my wallet, keys, etc. Nice work @Duracuir1

Thank you Alex. They are fun to make and the one for GBESQ and the Shroud were tricky. I burned so much leather trying to make those.

The one with the Old Speedy was an easier image transfer. And I continue to experiment with different shapes.

Today I worked on this one. I am deciding if I will use rivets to shape the leather or slit and sew it.

Will decide in the ayem!
