Hi,

I know I need to take her in but I’m a bit unhappy and just clutching at straws see if there’s anything at all anyone can think of as to why this might be occurring, only had the watch around 6 months.

A week or so ago I put my watch down and noticed it stopped overnight, as the reserve should be 55 hours I believe on the latest iteration I started tracking how long it lasts, it has gone from around 16 hours to less than an hour, now when I wind fully it stops after 10 mins, also noticed it lost about 4 seconds in 12 hours where as before it’d lose that in 24 hours.

I have checked see if it’s magnetised using that Lepsi app and it’s not although shouldn’t think it would be easy to magnetise a modern seamaster anyway.

Any any views welcomed, thankyou and sorry for rambling.

Hand wind it 60 times, and put it aside. Time it from the minute you start, and keep checking on it as time passes.

Your watch passed a METAS test, and should stay running for over 55 hours.

Let us know what happens.

Thanks for the reply, I did that then set it down and checked it 10 mins later, stopped, picked it up unscrewed the crown and turned it once and it started, then a couple of mins later stops again, I then tried picking it up and moving it around and it starts again, then a couple of mins later it stops.

Screwed isn’t it 🙁

You need to turn it more than once. Try 60 full turns of the crown then put it aside.

What’s the watch’s reference number? Post a pic, let’s see what you’re dealing with.

Sorry should have been more specific I did turn it 60 times first and it stopped within 10 mins, then picked it up and as soon as you turn it once it starts but then stops a short while after.

It’s the latest Seamaster Professional 300 with the grey laser etched ceramic dial, bought from an AD in the summer last year and was running around 6secs a day until a week ago when this started.

You’re still under 5-year warranty. Take it in. Hopefully some watchmakers on the forum could guide you more on the intricacies of the problem, but to me that looks like a clear warranty claim.

You’ll be without your watch for a few months, but it beats having a watch that stops 10 minutes after winding.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Bad news - it’s poorly.

Good news - it’s under warranty, so should be repaired free of charge.

Very, very unusual to have this kind of failure, I guess, but I’m sure Omega will put it right.

Thought id report back as got the watch back today fully working, warranty invoice just says full service to get it back to working standard, no other details, pleased to have her back, they also replaced screws in the bracelet and cleaned her up a bit which was a nice bonus. Very pleased.

Had response from service centre saying there was insufficient lubricant in the movement.

Not sure how on earth that could happen with a brand new watch, but I guess there’s a first for everything.

Glad it’s all sorted out now 👍
