Hi OF

Next up for sale is a very nice Jumbo Seamaster with ref. 2657 housed in 14k solid gold case that I bought in 2020 from an established member and friend @MtV. I’ve only worn it about twice for a full day and has since spent most of the time in my drawer or bank deposit box. It should get more wrist time. As such it is basically in the same condition as I bought it, but I decided to have small movement retention issue (of course unknown to the previous owner) fixed before sale for the benefit of the new owner (see below under Movement for details).

Specifications and condition:

Model: Omega Seamster ref. 2657

Movement: Calibre 344, a bumper movement with sub second function. The serial number dates the watch to approx. 1952. When first trying to take pictures of the movement I noticed some pieces of gasket sticking out between the movement retention ring and the case. When my watchmaker pulled those pieces of gasket out, the movement was no longer holding firm in the case. As it turns out, some prior „watchmaker“ put those gasket pieces in as a quick fix to keep to movement in place. In fact, the movement is held by a movement retention ring. This ring is held in place in the case by a pin sticking out of the ring and a clamp on the opposite site (as far as I understood my watchmaker). The pin was broken off. So my watchmaker drilled a hole where the original pin was and replaced it. While doing the work he also noticed that one of the bumper springs was missing and replaced it as well. Plus he put in a fresh gasket. For the avoidance of doubt: NO SERVICE was performed on the movement. So as per usual, a complete service is recommended before regular wear as I don’t know the service history.

Case: 14k solid gold. It’s very sharp case for being solid gold (partly thanks to 14k being harder than 18k). Look at the edges of the lugs and the bezel. Sadly the case back has several scratches from past opening attempts (not by me) as well as some shallow dents.

Dial: Radium dial with 3-6-9-12 arabic numerals. The dial is lightly and fairly evenly patinated, which I tried to capture from different angles. The original radium lume is present in all the hour markers and hands from what I can tell. The 4 o’clock marker lost some, but not all of it. The 6 o’clock marker is slightly tilted, which I only noticed when taking the pictures.

Crown: Original signed crown. Shows signs of wear, particularly it lost it’s plating around the edges.

Crystal: Unsigned crystal with micro scratches.

Measurements: 36mm in diameter without crown, 44mm lug to lug, lug width 18mm, which gives great wrist presence.

Accessories: Black leather strap and original gold plated Omega buckle (14mm width) that came with the watch. I’m also including the receipt for the above mentioned repair work.

Price: I'm asking €1600 (was €1900) or the equivalent amount in CHF or USD.

Free delivery within Europe, overseas shipment at cost.

No returns unless grossly misrepresented.

Payment through Wise is preferred, or otherwise bank transfer. The watch is located in Germany.
