A friend who knows I'm passionate about speedmasters called me this week-end. His colleague just inherited an old speedy and was thinking of selling it. The watch has always been in the same family. I suppose the bezel was replaced in the 1970's. The crystal has also been replaced (should have a silver rehaut). I would say it's an "honest" example. (yes I bought it )
Its the lighting/photography/fiddling with colors, not the dial. Everything in the OP pics are just off in terms of color (i.e. white looks pink, shadows look brown). The last pic is I believe a more accurate capture of what colors actually looks like...or at least that is what my mileage tells me edit: to the op, I mean no offense. Great catch/great watch. Another interesting quirk of the dial is the high ‘Swiss made’, but with the minute track not touching the step...apparently a few early 105.003-63s also had this dial. Useless trivia I know. Apologies if I state the obvious.
Is it me or the photo but it looks like the dial is just not 100% correct in the case. Looks like slightly hanging to the right. But how can the stem then fit?.....
I would not say the dial is tropical. Sometimes it can be slightly brown depending on the light (for example the borders of the subdials).
I see what you mean. I guess you have no choice but to keep taking it outside and baking it in the sunlight.
