I assume they must have had their really special watches elsewhere, since none of these look irreplaceable. Still a lot of combined value, so one wonders how they could be taken. Did the robbers remove the entire safe?

From what I saw they blew the windows out, not verified, but what I saw in and article, I'll look for it.

Edit, can find info on damaged windows but nothing beyond that

No the rammed the small window right of the door with a concrete beam. The explosion was the previous attempt.

Unclear how they managed. I've been to this place, it's a fortress. Also, their boutique is in a really busy part of Amsterdam—granted, with nightlife closed due to Covid there will have been few witnesses around...

It appears that the watches were not in the vault but glass showcases

Sad, I know these guys. Bought my Rolex 6593 Bombay there, used to live in the area.

Dealers would have insurance 👍

I wonder if they are insured for real price or ticket price ::stirthepot::
( I’ve been in both shops and the prices were nothing short of 🤨 )

They'll be insured for their replacement value (i.e. What they paid) not list value surely?

I suspect we'll see an increase in the number of watches being offered in the "no box or papers" category... 🙄

Did both those guys fall down the stairs on the way in...?

Nope. I threw my bag down the stairs. My partner is the one that slipped and fell.

my jeweler told me that his policy (in USA) requires them to put everything back in the safe every evening even though they have alarms, cameras, security doors, etc. He said it’s a real pain.

Sad news. I was in Amsterdam in 2018, but, didn't check out the vintage watch store, I wish I did. A beautiful and charming city... but, no where is safe from thieves.

I recall a few years back when I was having lunch in the food court of a local mall, when this happened...

Two brazen suspects armed with assault rifles held up a Rolex store at the Westfield Century City Shopping Center Monday afternoon, firing at least one shot during the robbery. No injuries were reported.
