Lady Datejust repair recommendations

Hi all,

My wife has a Lady Datejust that means a tremendous amount to her. Last night one of our kids knocked it off a shelf, and it landed on a tile floor. The crystal is fractured. I am looking for recommendations for where to have it repaired.

We live in the Madison, Wisconsin, area. The closest Rolex service centers are Milwaukee and Chicago. I don't mind driving (or shipping) to these locations. I am also happy to ship to another shop. I am really looking for insight and recommendations for a place that does honest quality work.

Thank you for your assistance.

How old is the watch? Modern or vintage? If fairly modern and the watch hasn’t been serviced recently, I would just send it to Dallas and have the RSC replace the crystal as part of a full service with seals etc. There are no actual service centers in Milwaukee or Chicago.

The watch is less than 10 years old. It was purchased in Dallas. It has never been serviced. I was leaning towards sending it RSC unless others might have other feedback.

My wife's 2007 steel Datejust finally needed a service in 2021 so it was sent off to RSC in Dallas. Came back looking perfect and has been running well since then. Overhaul was $700, sapphire crystal was $133 (had a very tiny chip in it), with shipping and tax total cost was $973. Turnaround time was quite reasonable at 8 weeks from the time I sent it to the time she received it back. Have Rolex do the work, it'll come back with a two year warranty.

A lot of people freak out at the idea of any refinishing of a watch case or bracelet but I don't get hung up on that on a working watch like a steel DJ. Here is a before and after picture of the bracelet clasp, this watch was worn daily for 14 years and was not babied. If you are adamant about Rolex not touching the case or bracelet you'll have to send it somewhere else, they don't give you a choice.
