Hey guys, I am looking at a 28mm lady datejust reference 279147 on eBay for my partner as a potential late Xmas present and was wondering if anyone could help with authenticity? I tried looking online for information in regards to engraving/reference number placement but have not had much success with the smaller watches. I have compared listing photos with others for sale and think the watch to be genuine, but would appreciate a second opinion. Thanks, Ed
You would spend what you are likely going to have to spend on such a watch with such poor photographs, and with inadequate information? Especially on eBay? I wouldn’t recommend it.
Fair enough! It might be a little cheaper than what you would normally spend, so was trying to see if genuine.
To my eye, does not look genuine, but I could be wrong! Worth taking note that women in-fashion are preferring larger watches. 28mm is quite dainty. More modern lady DJ’s from the mid to late 1990’s go up to 32mm I think. Small step but a good one IMO. And still some ladies would be perfectly comfortable and in fashion wearing a man’s vintage DJ at 36mm ...really depends on her age and style preferences. Maybe make a few casual observations about what you see other women wearing, and you’ll be sure to learn something.
The item was originally an auction and then was relisted as a BIN for 1000aud. Maybe the final price was an indicator of authenticity? I just would not have thought such a new reference to be faked, but then at such a low price you couldn't trust where the item came from I guess. https://m.ebay.com.au/itm/322962278877Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network But in regards to size, my partner wears a 26mm(?) tudor princess date (gold plated) as a dress watch, and has quite thin wrists so 28mm would be a good daily wear size, but a 31mm could also work. Thanks for the responses guys.
