    Hey there..can anyone tell me anything on this watch? From what I can gather Lacher is now called Laco? Now since this is a quartz, it's not particularly old right? Is Lacher a decent name or just some dime-store watch maker? lacher.jpg

    If it's quartz it can't be pre-1970. Seiko introduced the Astron on Christmas Day 1969 - the first quartz wristwatch available to the public.

    I won't say "there goes the neighborhood" though. :D It was considered a big breakthrough then.

    At the bottom of the dial it says "Made in W. Germany". As Dennis says, the first quartz watch wasn't produced until 1969 (my understanding is that it cost about the same as a Toyota back then). West Germany was unified with the East around 1990.

    Therefore, the watch would have been produced sometime between the mid-1970's, when the cost of producing a quartz watch started to fall dramatically, and 1990. Probably more toward the end of that period, say early to mid 1980's.
