Hi all, i've read a fair amount of articles and posts on tropicals. I understand 105.012 is not a very common reference for this anomality. However is there a particular serial number range for tropicals for this reference? Or does someone have serial number(s) for known tropicals? Thanks in advance!
Good question. I have seen more than quite a few examples of 105.012 tropicals including a nice one from our member @nonuffinkbloke with a known 24,5xx,xxx serial.
Thankyou for the mention @td69. Actually a bit closer in serial to @BatDad 's tropical. It is a 105.012-65 with a 24,53x,xxx serial number. I'm also interested to know if they all appear to have a variation in the shade of brown. My watch can look quite dark indoors (depending on the light source) and outside the sunlight plays games with the dial. Here it is by a tree and by a wall. Every time I photograph the 'bassted' it looks a different colour. This one with a bush and some pavement. and this one without a tree, wall , bush or pavement. DIFFERENT COLOUR EVERY TIME! (I wish I knew how to take decent photographs)
@nonuffinkbloke Here's our watches side by side. Two beauties for sure =) It was mentioned to me that mine looks a bit tropical, never even thought about it... still not sure...
Here’s mine. Serial number 24011*** The first photograph under artificial light, the second in daylight.
Not too sure but my 105.012-66 is turning slightly brown, certainly shows more in certain lighting. Serial is 24531XXX.
Some Ed whites show the beginnings of turning tropical too. Certainly my -65 is going a little brown round the sub dials and I have seen others too but it’s nowhere near as noticeable as the Pro models. Like I say it’s hard to show you wouldn’t notice unless you put it side by side with a new black dial:
Here’s a -66 serial 24.9xxx Who knows, maybe in 20 years someone will post about the rare black dial 105's
Well... the sauna may be a bit too 'tropical' particularly if you've got a big, bearded, over friendly, hairy arse, bear in a tiny towel spooning menthol water on the coals every five minutes! You'll cough ya balls up before that dial turns brown mate!......having said that..... there maybe an argument for sticking it in the airing cupboard for a decade or so.
Has anyone seen this listing on Chrono24? I’ve never seen a speedy aged like this? Is it tropical or is it so,e moisture damage? The plots have “leaked” and the fade seems to have affected the print as well. What are the thoughts? It does look pretty cool, almost grey.
It’s always helpful when there’s some identifying text on an image... https://www.bachmann-scher.de/gebra...6&tx_news_pi1[overwriteDemand][categories]=16
