Up For sale is a nicely running 36,000 BPH Hi Beat King Seiko. Serial number 9N1236 places this watch as being made in November of 1969.

The hand winding 4500A movement is clean and runs well, and has good timekeeping. It is running about plus 10 seconds per day on my wrist. I have not serviced it while in my ownership. The crown and hacking mechanism work correctly.

The case appears to have its original finished surfaces, and carries light swirls and marks from what I would call honest use.

The case back is clean and similarly unmarked. The Superior Chronometer medallion is in fine shape, and has not suffered any attack from either corrosion or a polishing wheel.

The dial displays the classic balance and simplicity of this reference. There is some minor discoloration of the dial at the edge between the 5 and 6 indices, which has not grown or accelerated in any way while in my possession.. The indices and hands are all crisp and clean.

The watch is fitted with a later black Seiko branded strap and buckle, which I presume was added after a service sometime in the past. While I have worn the watch in rotation, the strap does not have any significant history marks in the leather strap.

I’m selling this watch as I’ve come to realize that a collection quantity of N+1 cannot continue to work for me. So the journey of re-focusing my collecting has begun.

Price is $525 USD, net to me of any transactional costs. I accept PayPal F&F from established OF members, and other arrangements may be made as mutually agreed. The watch and I are in northern New England. I’d welcome a face to face meeting if that works. I will ship the watch to US locations at my cost, and any overseas shipment is certainly possible with a discussion.

I have references here at OF as a buyer.

My thanks to OF for the space!
