I work from home so yes. But I’ve also heard of such shananegans from guys hiding their new treasures from their significant others......I don’t condone this.
Wouldn’t do it. Someone at work bought a Rolex for their other half and kept in the office ina drawer by their desk. Took it home after however much time had passed (I am guessing days or a week or 2) to give as a birthday present and when their spouse opened the box it was empty........ So someone had run off with it at the office. Horrifying or what
There's always a chance that your watch can be stolen, even if it's super minimal. If you're okay with taking the risk, definitely go for it. Just keep in mind that there are people out there that will stoop so low as to steal other people's lunch.
Besides possibly being stolen, what would happen if you have an accident for instance, and could never go back to your office ? Not sure your family could get your belongings back because your office is company property, right ?!?
I’ve got a pocket watch, nothing super special, I think from around 1912, picked it up for like $50, I’ve been thinking about getting a little stand and using it at my desk. I wouldn’t be crushed if someone made off with it, I’d be pissed, but I’d be over it a few days later. My only hesitation is that I think it might tick just loud enough to annoy my coworkers. Which could be an added benefit I guess. I generally go home at lunch and let my dog out, and toss him the frisbee. I’ve definitely switched watches mid day.
Random thought for the evening. Earlier today I went for a session at my local velodrome where there's a bike store for people like me who don't want their track bike cluttering up the house. It occurred to me, looking around at goodness knows how many ££££s worth of carbon fibre in there, that there are probably a fair few chaps who store their machines there to stop their spouses from ever knowing they've even bought them... so, equate that to watch ownership - if you don't want your other half to find out, where else other than the office is there?
I suspect that is the real reason why some people have safety deposit boxes. I doubt some of their spouses are aware of all the contents.
