We all got 'em, that piece you bought as a joke, or in a back alley in Hong Kong before you could afford a real Casio..... So lets see your junk..... Timex Marlins, Texas Instrument LEDs, whatever...... 1973 Westclox 1980 Molnija
A pawn shop find years ago. Five dollars. It still sees duty as the go-to hunting, fishing, weekend chores watch. It's one of the most accurate watches on the place.
I keep it only because it is a curiosity. The dial is marked Kormilton. Pin lever, two jewels, manual wind. Ya! I know! In the 1950s, a lot of Kormiltons were sold in shopping center parking lots by mountebanks trying to raise enough money to be able to catch a Greyhound, and return home! Runs, but needs a CENTER sweep seconds pinion and seconds hand.
So when I told my family I wanted a vintage watch for my 40th birthday in 2011, this is what they gave me as a joke (along with a non-joke check). The case lights up and blinks in multiple colors.
Lack of judgment dumb mistake ebay purchase from shortly after ebay started. No crown. Figured I could find one on the new ebay! Never did. Stopped running when you shake it recently. Should give it away for postage if someone needs parts. It's not on my phone so I have to link
First watch I've ever owned. Bought it with S&H green stamps when I was 8 yrs old… All functions still work.
Bought off eBay about 10 years ago, from Argentina . After about a week the crown pulled out. Watchmaker informed me that the movement was completely knackered. Sourced an old Omega movement that fitted the case with a bit of work. I think it eventually cost me twice the original purchase price .
