Here's an interesting piece which is either called the Juvenia "Architect" or "Protractor" watch. I've been offered this locally. It's not usually the type of watch I'd have in my collection, so I think it's unlikely that I'll decide to buy it unless I just really fall in love with it in person, but it's very unusual, and my googling suggests that it is legitimately rare. My searches also turn up a lot of connections with Johnny Depp, who apparently is famous for wearing the gold-plated version in an Esquire article in 2008. Hodinkee actually wrote a blog post about it. http://hoodinkee-beta.squarespace.c...or-pure-1960s-style-a-favorite-of-johnny.html I hope some members enjoy this rare sighting!
I've often thought the Protractor would make a good companion to an Arithmo: I could see a curated collection focused on vintage geek watches like these. Maybe also a Chronomat and a Calculator
Yes, anyone in a technical trade, engineering, etc. There are also collectors of vintage drawing tools who'd love a watch like that:
Unfortunately, I don't think it's going to be super-cheap, so it would need to be someone like that who also doesn't mind spending a couple of grand on an old watch.
Always loved the slide rule... agree wont be cheap and too strange for me. Cool though for the right collector!
This reminds me of a knife made for sharpening quill pens that was part of a Spanish map makers or navigators tool kit. It doubled or tripled as dividers and drawing compass and the legs folded back exactly like the grips of a balisong butterfly knife. I suspect from the age of that instrument that it predated the balisong and may have inspired that design.
