What a journey. I went from one watch to another and another, all Omega, before finally purchasing my Grail, a still new Planet Ocean XL with the 2500D movement. A shame the sucker would get magnetized every single time I flew! Broke my heart so I sold to a fine gent who loves it and knows the flaws of the 2500 movements.

That was almost 18 months ago and I have finally decided to buy another kick-@ss diver, one that would not get magnetized!... The new Seamaster 300m, blue with the bracelet. Having had the opportunity to try on the gray one with bracelet, the black one with bracelet and a blue one on rubber I knew that I had found the correct piece for my needs. This new model is so vastly improved over the first generation it boggles the mind. In blue it is beyond beautiful.

My watch should be handed over to Fed-Ex Monday afternoon, which means I will have it on Wednesday.

I am thinking of grabbing a generic NATO if I can find one that is in a matching blue. I have a month long trip to SE Asia planned for Aug-Sept and I believe a NATO would be more comfortable. Not to mention it will save the bracelet a lot of abuse.

    Pictures soon. :)

By the way, if anyone knows of a NATO strap that is matching blue, please point it out. It would be nice not to pay $160 for the official Omega strap. Yikes.

That's it. Dealer snapped this for me before preparing to ship.

I have an alpha shark premium nato in navy blue. Looks good but adds a bit more thickness. I actually prefer their blue silicon nato (seen in the pic with blueberries) as its minimal and very comfortable due to it being able to stretch.

Sorry, I'm being uber dim here, why did your PO get magnetised everytime you flew?

Also congrats on the new piece!

Wish I knew. All of my friends with 2500 based Omegas suffered this. And all flipped as a result. Unfortunately my PO suffered the same fate.

I am quite certain I will not experience this going to the 8800 movement.

Mines been with me on quite a few flights, no magnetic issues to report, wonder if the more knowledgeable brains can shed any light.

I have the Orange 2500C and and it’s easily been on at least 8 flights with me and no issues!

You guys with the 2500C and D are luckier than some, that's for sure. I remember when Omega in Japan found that 60% of the watches coming in for service were magnetized. Omega did not spend a bazillion dollars in researching and designing their new movements for nothing. :)

I should point out I have plenty of automatic watches that never suffered the same fate. My 565 based SM300 and of course my gorgeous Seamster 200 Pre-Bond were both fine. My cheap Vostok has been around the world without issue.

All that is behind me. In front of me is an 8800 based Seamaster 300m and I am super psyched.

    Congrats, great watch.

I agree the price of the nato is high, but In my experience it kicks every aftermarket nato into touch. The materials are just much better to me. I think as a one off purchase they are just about worth it if you intend to use it often.

Excellent choice, congrats! I went through the same thing, looked at all of the colors and options and made the same choice.

I'm not a Nato fan, but I will make two suggestions.

    1) Don't go cheap. Buy a nice strap, even a real Omega if you have to.
    2) Wear it with the bracelet. Don't save it for the next guy.

Also... I couldn't help but notice that in most of the pictures posted in this thread, no one is wearing shoes. Don't you people work? ::confused2::

    LOL :D
