Just got this old 28.10 bumper (those exposed springs!) that dates to 1946 in the mail today. It's my oldest Omega and took a punt on it even though I'm not so familiar with these. Was nervous from seller photo how it would turn out but I'm happy. It came from a watchmaker's estate. Love the radial dial and the color of the radium is nice and warm!
Ha, fantastic - and looks virtually identical to the one I just landed a couple of weeks ago and put up for sale on eBay recently. They seem to be falling out of the sky from 1946! Enjoy, and congratulations!
(My serial number, I’m told, is from 1944, 1017xxxx- but I’ll defer to the Omega experts to let me know if that’s true or not. )
Nice find @BenBagbag, your radial dial is much harder to come by and I know because I’ve been after one for a couple years at least. A classic!
many thx it's a ref 2374-5 from 1947 no idea if its the first, all i know it was back then the thinnest automatic caliber in a waterproof case ....
The first bumper Omega made was the 30.10 in 1943, the 28.10 came the same year. Here a little article by @mondodec
