Hi guys.. I know you guys probably don't like these kind of threads... sorry for that

Recently received a 3570.50 in the mail. I took a bunch of a pictures as best i could as I don't have my good camera. I also included a video showing the movement. The serial number on the card matches the serial on the lug, the box, and the serial on the little hangtag. I took a couple pictures of the books to show the font, maybe someone can see if the fonts look off. Please let me know what you think, I was given some receipts for original sale at a not-AD as well as a warrantied receipt from swatch group repair center. I didn't open the watch because I don't have the tools for it now, but when i received the timepiece it wasn't running. I gave it a quick wind and it started right up, so it's a manual at least.. the clasp says "62" in a circle, "stainless steel" "1998/840" "swiss made". End links say "840".

Anyway here are the pictures.. Let me know what you guys think, if you need more or better pictures then please let me know and I'll get them to you right away. I have to resist wearing it tomorrow!!!!

Well, it cleared the big hurdle: it says "MISSIONS" on the caseback instead of "MISSONS". 馃槈

ah.. i see there is no edit function. perhaps at least not until i'm "accepted" by OF through a specified number of posts? I didn't find an introduction section on this forum, which is common for other forums.. oh well.

I wanted to add, thanks for the help.

Jon,
if you look below your post there's a little cog, a like icon and a back arrow.
Click on the cog and you get more options.
Even a newcomer to this forum has as much freedom of expression as the shellbacks.
As for rules 'n stuff, it's pretty much free wheeling and you'll know if you did something bad, everyone will bag you (and not get Ernied like you do somewhere else ;-))

Welcome John.
Everything in your watch are legit. From matching bracelet, series no laser etch in lug, the right case back inscription, the right dial, case pushers....etc, Very nice Speedy Pro.

Its pretty easy to tell a real Speedmaster Pro after you've seen a few, its a unique watch in too many ways to mimic, and yours is completely correct.

Sarcasm is my second language.

I like this guy already. If you ever visit the Philly / Southern NJ area I'll teach you how to speak asshole. It's a slightly cruder dialect of sarcasm. You'll pick it up quick.

Thanks guys, I have been watching a lot of speedmasters from the Japanese sellers on ebay lately, but I still wanted to check with the experts.

One thing that does confuse me is the clasp.. Mine is polished but i can see remnants of the "brushed" look. I have looked at other 1998 clasps and they are all brushed. Can anyone confirm that the 1998 clasp should be brushed and maybe the previous owner had his clasp polished? I'm no professional, so how could I recover the brushed look?

and I was actually in Philly for a day a few months ago, I wanted to try the famous cheesesteaks.. I went to Geno's since everyone said they were "the original". 10 bucks for one and it didn't even taste all that special.. Ended up taking home a few from a cart on 6th by the independence mall for 5 bucks each, turned out to better (or more worth it at least..) Anyway I speak enough asshole.. i've been called verbally abusive. Watching too much Trailer Park Boys, racist stand-up, and other stupid derogatory shows/movies have warped my fragile little mind. 馃榾

Geno's? Awe man, you shoulda went to Jim's on 4th & South or any of the Steve's Prince of Steaks. While Geno's is better than Pat's, they're the tourist traps of cheesesteaks. You gotta get provolone instead of Cheez Whiz too. Well at least you'll know better next time.

ps - I used to live a few blocks down from those lunch carts on 6th & Lombard.

well yeah, ignant me looked on google for "best Philly cheese stakes in Philadelphia", which 9 out of 10 times the lists were created by fellow tourists..
Anyway I will keep that in mind if I ever want to take a short road trip for cheesesteaks 馃憤

oh yeah.. any advice on the clasp issue i mentioned in my previous post?

I don't even know what a cheesesteak is but it's got the word steak in it and that means meat so I'll have to try one.

Anyway, back on topic (unusual for this forum I know 馃槈 ) you can restore the brushed finish on the clasp with a number of products including garnet paper, scothbrite pad, fibre pen and some other's I can't think of.

To get a good finish you need to know what you're doing or else you'll just guck it up.

I made a jig from soft pine with side rails that clamp to the sides of the bracelet and the pads of emery/garnet/scothbrite are guided in a straight line.

Google or search here or WUS for bracelet finishing.

Or if it's going to be a daily wearer just live with it, it doesn't detract from the look of the watch IMO.

Cool, thanks for the tips. I've brushed aluminum but on car wheels.. not nearly as delicate as watches.

It doesn't detract from the look, but I'm used to brushed clasps. and I want it to retain the original look which is also why I went for the 3570.50.
