I'm thrilled to have this land this morning. Totally mint Eterna Kontiki 20 cal 1489K. I'd like to think it's the adventurers dress watch - the screw down crown is totally cool, given it's otherwise dress design and age. The dial has a black iron look to it, reminiscent of anti-mag military watches. Probably not the best time of day to take a photo, but I snapped away regardless.

Nope, the only chicken on the property is sitting in the deep freeze. ;)

This one hit me over the head, from one of my comrades at MWR. It doesn't quite fit the bill as a mil, or mil inspired watch, but has a happy home here on OF. I wasn't looking for it, but knew I needed to jump on it when it came up.

Nice! The trick with these KonTikis is the same as with the Zenith Defys - to find one in decent shape. They seem to have seen very hard use, and most are in shabby, shabby condition. Two like that passed through my hands - and left me completely underwhelmed - before I lucked into one almost as good as yours and the appeal of these watches became apparent to me.

Thanks @LouS , I agree. Watches in the sub-$1k class have to be in great condition, otherwise they're likely destined for the parts bin. It's amazing how far gone we'll let an Ed White go before the value falls down.

Love the unique bezel and soft dial markers on it, that aggressive crown is pretty cool too. Is the crown signed? That was the only thing that threw me off a little with the 20 I have, and similar ones of that age.

Congratulations  on your beautiful acquisition ::love::...

    Here's my over-polished 20:

...and, at just the right angle the 'spidering' of the dial...

which looks kinda cool (me thinks).... but doesn't bode well for its useful life...

Oh, well, I'll just enjoy it while I can!

Can't forget the medallion, which somehow was spared most of the polish :
