Hello Experts, I just gotten this from a vintage watch dealer n the only info I hv is that it’s a Constellation Ref.2852/2853 from 1957.

It’s has an unusual 18k bracelet and keeps excellent time. Can anybody tell me more about this watch? Thank you in advance for your help.

The font is that of the latest 2852s that came with those dome dials and onyx inserts. “Transitional pieces” if you want to call them that, so my guess would actually be a little later than ‘57. Dial should be solid gold, which makes the ref. 2853.

Do you have some more pics of the bracelet?

Other than that: looks legit. As @Dan S said, question is what you want to know.

Crossed Ts on a 2852/3?
Dodgy MOY
Cross hair running along the length of the L in Constellation?
Is that a thing?

Well, this one comes to mind:

It very likely had a replacement movement from an earlier example, but just looking at the dial… crossed t anyway. Doesn’t explain the MOY and the cross hair of course, but I’d want a clear, high resolution close up really to be (more) sure.

The answers are here. It has to do with how the letters M, O, and Y line up in the text on dial under the Omega logo. It is a test of authenticity and if wrong, can one indicator of redial which can significantly lower the value of the watch to a collector.
If you bought a solid gold constellation you should read the entire blog I think

As a fellow fly fisherman, you need to know how to read the water, the insect hatches, the good fish holding areas, the casting techniques, avoiding drag, correct fly to match the hatch, and a multitude of other important details. Vintage watches are similar and carefully studying the little things will increase success and enjoyment of the hobby.

The M in AUTOMATIC is quite different from the M in CHRONOMETRE. Would help to have photo of dial without hands blocking text

Straight M in Chronometre is perfectly normal.

More worrying I find -re spelling of Chronometre (eg the early spelling) in combination with this Constellation font that, if legit, would only be ok on the latest 2852/2853 examples.

What a cool and unusual bracelet, I’ve never ever seen that before. Sort of a variation on the beads of rice, I wonder how strong it is given the angles involved.
