Just bought my first omega -- real or fake?

I just bought this Omega watch(my first) from an online vendor via Switzerland and I have a week to return it and get my money back. These are the pictures of the watch. It seems in surprisingly amazing condition, so I'm a bit worried after doing more research... hoping its genuine. I was told the glass is original and everything else is original as well except for the strap which is replaced. Would love advice on this one! Thank you all. very grateful for this forum.

I don't recall ever seeing a vintage Seamaster calendar with the date window at the 6 o'clock position. Doesn't mean it's not legitimate, though. Do you have the reference number from the case back?

We have had many over the years.

Good to know. Would you happen to know what the case reference might be? Just curious.

No I don't off-hand but the OP could surely post it if you need. However the watch posted is certainly genuine. My initial answer to your first post was in response to you before you edited.

The faint shadow of the Omega symbol near the middle of the dial suggests that it is a genuine crystal. Look carefully at the centre of the crystal and you will see it.

Oh, wonderful. Ok, its in the mail coming to me in the next several days... I will post more pictures and know more about it when I have it to take closer up photos(re- case reference). I was worried that it may not be genuine because of how clean it was on the dial... and if it had been repainted at all. I didn't want a repainted Omega face. But from what I'm gathering, this face seems original as well?

It's a 2627, one of the later iterations. You can also see the reference in the case back photo. These are good watches & it looks like a nice little example.

The details of identifying correct scripts on these Seamasters is a field of study in itself. Try searching the forum and checking out some of the threads if you want to check it out in detail.

This looks like a lovely watch. You will want to get it serviced if there is no documentation or receipt to verify that it was serviced recently.

I can't tell how clean anything is from those photos. Very artsy, but not so helpful for a buyer.

Those pictures are horrendous. Absolutely useless for assessing the detail.

From those ridiculous pictures I have some concerns over the dial.

I hope the OP can appreciate that buying a watch before knowing if it's genuine or fake, is a big no no.

Yes, apparently I missed that, but nice to add to my knowledge. A shout out thank you to janice&fred for their assistance.

Yep, a 2627. Caliber 353 in the earlier ones, and 355 in the later ones. Dial looks good to me.

I think you have a nice one similar as well, but gold capped or filled?
