New to Omegas and got a decent deal on this watch on eBay. Comes with boxes, etc. What do you guys think? Good watch?

If you like it, then it's a great watch.

    No concern of authenticity here?

I'll defer to the resident experts, but isn't this putting the cart before the horse? Ready, fire, aim!

What I think depends on how much cheddar you shelled out for this watch??

You got a nice automatic Speedmaster for a cheap price. It should be relatively cheap to service at an independent watchmaker if it hasn't been serviced recently.

Seller documented 4 years ago. I should be good for a while. I thought I’d clean it up and wear it with a leather strap or similar.

I suspect you probably got a decent watch for a decent price, but I would venture to suggest that was more through good luck than good management. If you want to seek expert advice, the best time to do it is before you pull the trigger! :)

I don’t disagree. The result of shopping for quite a while. Thanks for the replies.

Definitely ask about authenticity and condition or value before you pull the trigger, if you’re not sure about it.

I would’ve expected that watch from the late 90s to cost a few hundred more. You got a pretty good deal even if it needed a service now.

Granted, if you sent your $1000 watch to Omega tomorrow for $750 service, you would not get your $1750 investment back by selling it right away. So just wear and enjoy it.

Not sure why but I like these watches from Japan.

Speedy dates with the 7750 movements are not Japan only... they did tend to sell well there though. Was this one a Japan only variant?

Thought I had read that the 3511's were the Japanese variant, I have a 3511.80 the blue one. Here is some info from Chronomaddox " black dial with rhodium subdials (3511.50) or blue dial (3511.80) and yellow dial (PIC 3511.12) for the Japanese market, then white dial (3511.20) since 1994" Could be the white was also produced for other markets.

You might be right about those dials.

None of those listed are shown as being for the Japanese market only. Keep in mind that Omega made literally hundreds of variants of these, so although some were made for specific markets, many were widely available.

You look to be right Archer, just looked at the warranty card for mine and it was sold out of Hong Kong.

Thanks to everyone for the information in this thread - I've been a reading on OF for a while, but wanted to express my gratitude - just bought a 1995 3511.20 and am VERY happy with it!
