Kelly Hunter, Art of the Watch:

http://artofthewatch.com/

He focuses on vintage watches and understands preservation. My watch is a Speedmaster Professional from 1970.

Yes! Great recommendation for Kelly Hunter 馃憤 !

He is my watchmaker as well and will unquestionably treat your watch the way it deserves. He has worked on seven(!) of my watches, and I purchased my first Speedy from him too.

Also, I second @Foo2rama looks to me like a late production 145.022-76 (I have a '76, that was produced in 1977. Serial: 39921xxx) or an early/mid production 145.022-78.

Oh, and what's a post without a pic!?!

Gorgeous! Next I have to research leather straps. I'll definitely be rotating between the bracelet and strap.

Gorgeous! Next I have to research leather with straps. I'll definitely be rotating between the bracelet and strap.
I have the original 1171 bracelet (with 633 end links), and love wearing it, but for day-to-day, it's tough to beat a quality leather strap!

Oh yeah, congrats on this pickup!

Now I'm confused too. According to that site, this watch was made in 1979, right? I'm seeing 1978's as 37XXXXX.

Also is the model of this watch, 145.022 or 145.022-78?
From the serial it is a late 145.022-76 or a very early 145.022-78. If it is 37million it is earlier then that. I read it as a 39.9m

145.022 is marked after 1980 production on the caseback (might be 145.0022). Watches made in 1978 and 1979 will be marked 145.022-78 on the caseback.

Which dial do you have on it? A medium S where the S does not drop to the bottom of the P?

I like the question! My watch is the 1977 production year (also my birth year) so it has the "Tall and Open S" (in MWO, this dial-type is referred to as the C3 dial), not the "Medium S" found on the earlier -74's and -76's.

My wife just pointed out that this watch is a "conceived in" year watch for me. That'll have to do because knowing me, I'd be wasting hours and hours and more $$$ on a "birth year". I should have it by Monday. Can't wait.
