Has anyone tried a 321 on a leather 'rally' strap? 😀 Black or mid-brown/tan. Might look really good.

Not a rally strap, but I wear mine at the moment on the brown strap that came with the speedmaster trilogy. Looks awesome.

Personally I don't see myself ever using anything other than the stock flat link bracelet, it's well designed and constructed and completes the Ed White vibe. For me a leather or textile strap on this watch just doesn't cut it. Just personal preference.

Yes, it's a complete look. I don't even think I've seen the Ed White on anything but this bracelet.

Like it so much I put it on my FOIS. Kind of regret letting that one go.

There’s a few on TRF who have posted photos. At the end of the day, it’s a speedy and looks excellent on anything. I agree it looks terrific on the bracelet however. But I like on a strap for a change up.

Guys - what is the best way to clean the watch? Mild soap and water and a soft toothbrush? The head is 50m watch resistant, so would this be fine to gently submerge in water and brush lightly?

I generally use a few drops of Dawn and water, maybe a soft toothbrush for the bracelet, eyeglass cloth to dry & polish.

Have also used Wristclean products to good effect when on sale.

Gorgeous Speedmaster. I've thought about picking one up on the gray market, but at least for the moment I just can't justify the price when I've already got a '69 Straight Writing 145.022. I wish that Omega would put a ceramic bezel on the "entry level" 3861 because that would probably be the tipping point for me to purchase one. It's not like a ceramic bezel is that expensive. My 2017 SMPc came with one and I picked that up new on the gray market for less than $2,900. Sadly, that pricing for a new Omega is long gone.

As much as I love the bracelet, it’s a Speedy so works on everything! This is my current setup…

The 3861 obviously was a big seller, so clearly there is a market for an “upgraded” version of the Speedmaster. For me all this is a hard pass. I have a Speedy automatic from 1990 that I’ve been wearing since - and had always considered getting a “real” moonwatch. Didn’t buy it back then because I preferred the smaller size.
So when time was right 30 years later I put myself on the list for the 321. Got the call and passed - nothing about it looked right to me. Bought a Rolex 16600 instead that I always wanted. Yet, there was still the nagging feel for wanting a hand wound Speedy - and it was time to hand the Reduced to the next generation. I saw the 3861 come out and compared it against the prior version - and that was the key moment when I decided to buy a 1861 as the last model that I would still consider a valid but modernized “Moonwatch”.
For me no ceramic bezels, precious metals, flat link or tapered bracelets, Saphire crystals, display backs, etc.
I do want a late 60s 321 and a clean tritium 861 still at some point.

Impresive watch! Enjoy it. I am also a person who prefer the grey market or even the preowned watches because the prices are lower.
