Pity we are not able to see the feedback rating of the buyer to better gauge the legitimacy of the sale. If it is a legitimate sale, it must be because the buyer mistakenly considered the dial to be an original instead of a repaint.

I wish I had an interest in these watches........could sure buy more of them for a lot less money than vintage Speedmasters.

When I saw the title of the this thread I was excited thinking it was a "Wild, Wild, West" reference. Every episode was "The Night of Something." If James West were alive today, he'd wear a Speedmaster Pro. Dr. Loveless would probably wear a Constellation, and Artemus Gordon might wear a Seamaster. And you KNOW James T. Kirk would be sporting a Speedmaster.

You just need to turn away from the dark side.

Actually the 18k connies in nice shape are every bit as expensive as the cal. 321 speedmasters and the very rare platinum grand luxe connies are more expensive than even the best 2915 speedmasters around.

You mean the stainless steel cal. 321 Speedmasters? I was referring more to the Constellations in general....not the ULTIMATE precious metal versions. The platinum watch you mentioned would probably be more fairly compared to an original Alaska Project prototype, if it is truly worth more than 50k. How many of these platinum watches are known to exist? I prefer to compare apples to apples...given production numbers, availability...etc. I know I am a mere pine sapling in this forest of watch collecting sequoias, (and I never intend to be more) so I will try to remember to keep in my "place."

The nice condition 18k gold 1950s to mid 1960s connies go for $3-4k which would be the equivalent of the cal. 321 speedmaster. The platinum ones go for over $100k. The cloisonne dial ones would go for 20-50k depending on style and condition. I think in general there are connie counterparts at all the different price points vis a vis the speedmaster. Of course the stainless steel connies would go for less but these stainless steel versions if in top condition could also fetch $1500 to $2500 or even more if the dial is uncommon.

You're right. Constellations do sell for the same prices as Speedmaster Professionals. I was mistaken.

I love both lines - one more sport and the other dress. At the end of the day though, the cal. 321 speedmaster is still the signature watch for omega and its most famous one. Also one of a very very few number of watches that has been manufactured for 50 years now with fairly minor changes in the watch's design.

Was a buy it now though lol, think more likely Mike's suggestion, either thought it was a real black dial I thought it was 18K

The white dial watch is from another listing the seller has.

Of all these DeLuxes, not a single one has been a 2799. There's a 2700 in this mix, but that's the closest to the 2799 so far.
