Only reluctantly letting go of my good old jumbo Tudor as I need some watch funds soon. Looks great, runs great, even without recent service history. Asking $1500, watch head only. Shipping by agreement, payment by paypal friends and family. Some recent pics follow with him modeling my handmade straps.
Back on the block. Again, a very tempting acquisition target is the reason. Btw, in the interest of full disclosure, a prospective buyer had changed his mind because he was told that the dial was refinished. I respectfully, but strongly, disagree. In short, I've owned a few of these four-digit jumbo Tudors-it's one of my favorite watch references. To wit: 1) The location of 'swiss' or 'swiss made' on the bottom is not written in stone in these references. The one here is perfectly acceptable and in no way a sign of a redial. 2) Further, if you blow up the head on dial pic with the tan leather NATO on the watch (pic #4 above), you'll see that, among the rest, the minute/second track is perfect. I've never seen a redial with a perfect minute/second track, and I've seen quite a few vintage watch dials in my lifetime, redials and unmolested ones. 3) Also, the lume plots match the hands lume perfectly, can be seen to be aged naturally under slight magnification and none glow any more, as is expected. Typically, in redials, lumes are uneven or missing altogether or sloppily reapplied or glow brightly, all a sign of more recent application-none is the case here. 4) Lastly, as far as I'm concerned, the print/font on this dial is excellent thruout and nowhere at all is it apparent it's a redial. That's my most honest assessment of this issue and I'm sticking to it. FWIW, the previous owner of this watch had acquired it from Analog Shift years back. Here's still the link there, so you can see a few more nice, professionally done, pics of this same exact watch: https://shop.analogshift.com/products/tudor-prince-oysterdate-7025-4-black-dial
Staying home. Off to the spa..No, nothing to do with the dial, which is all original, never refinished, thx for asking... EDIT: and just now traded in towards a very interesting fellow contemporary vintage Tudor. It was all meant to be.
i did not, ive honestly not researched this watch or looked into it much has im trying to convince myself not to buy more watches until I sell some atm. The post just caught my eye.
was being facetious...of course it's not a redial. just still a tiny bit sore on behalf of this awesome watch who doesn't have a mouth to speak up and defend his integrity, so i will do so on his behalf gladly.
