I think the date numerals are always like these below, ie not flipped. I don't think I've ever seen an original Cosmic dial with flipped date numerals, plenty of redials with the flip though.
So @cristos71 what you are saying is that this is a give away (I'm sure glad I never bought one because I had not realised that). Doing a quick image search on google there appear to be quite a few of these !!! Good to know.
Well I'm talking about the round dialed Cosmic's, the square 3944's I've not studied enough to say anything conclusively, although I'd imagine they follow the same design ethos.
No question about it. I have been looking hard at these for the last 18 months, and it has been very hard for me to find one I like. Almost any example I see with a decent dial is a redial.
I saw one in a dealers window in London a few months back and have been looking out for them since. Generally they don't seem to have aged well and as I said before I am definitely in the learning what to look out for phase
They're wonderful watches, both the jumbo's and the standard size. Nice one's pop up from time to time on Ebay and in auctions and I think if you spot a good one between €2.5K and €3.5K it should be considered.
@cristos71 : You appear to have at least one too many of these. DM me and I’ll help you out of that dilemma! (I’m partial to stainless steel, unlike everyone else here. )
Seriously thinking of making a bid on this moonphase From what’s on this thread I think it looks good Thoughts from other forum members would be welcome I realise it’s not a jumbo reference
Hey! I was trying to figure out if mine was a redial. Could you tell me how you were able to spot it? I check the 31 and it was at the right place and the numerals from 9 were not inverted. But I did think the time numerals (1-12) were really off and not i also noticed the 4's are not the same across
Well for one thing, Omega rarely painted markers right over the actual applied metal markers. The quality of the printing is not up to par overall.
There's so much wrong on that dial, but to start with how about the over print of the minute markers on the Arabic hour markers.
