Well it's bigger than the other Cosmic references, substantial on the wrist for sure. I see more of them in rose gold filled cases than yellow gold and even less examples are around in steel.

As with the 35mm Cosmic's the majority of watches available are either re-dialled or with dials in poor condition. Original dialed examples are difficult, although not impossible, to find.

I think it was in a recent Phillip's auction that a steel jumbo Farsi Cosmic sold for quite a substantial amount, the exact number of €'s I can't quite remember, but it was certainly a lot more than expected.

Here's mine in a rose gold filled case with an imperfect but still IMO attractive dial.

When you say imperfect dial do you suspect some alteration
Or do you believe it original
I think it looks great and would probably not hesitate
    To buy

    Cheers

made 156,000 chf against an estimate of 20-30,000. Certainly an attractive watch.

I also have a gold plated ref. 2486-2 with 11.202xxx serial and a somewhat "used" dial. Completely agree with @cristos71 they are very hard to find in good and even harder to find in great or excellent condition. 90% of the time they are either redials or highly overpriced.

A redial is fairly easy to spot, I think. The case size is great, the larger 37mm case fits most wrists perfectly. If you manage to pick one up in great condition it will quickly become your go-to dress watch for sure :)

Here's mine before the spa treatment. The crystal is yellow, the strap is  and it's an iphone photo but you get the idea.

This is a great steel example. Note that it also needs a new crystal. The dial is awesome but the price is handsome too.

True, but I did not say that it was a 2486. What I meant with that link is to show the condition/price/case material relation. Sorry if I was misleading...

The dial looks original to me and I agree with your assessment of the crown.. Here's my 2486:

@adrianmclo I am not over familiar with these watches although I think they are very attractive. What marks this one out as a redial ?

For one thing, it's unusual the way the date numbers flip orientation from 9-23 instead of saying radially outward like all other examples in the thread. Of course, it's just the overly clean dial that initially catches one's attention.

    Wow well spotted
I didn’t like how clean the dial was
But failed to spot the number orientation

The dial is certainly clean and that is a worry but I have certainly seen pictures of others that have the number orientation flip. Is this a definite tell tale with this model?

Well apart from the various smudges to the date numerals ( look at '7' ) an original Cosmic dial always has the '31' at the 12 o clock position and not the '1'

I have no idea, I just noticed it was different from all the other examples in the thread. If you have counter-examples, please show them, since this is a good place to compile data. I added a photo of the auction piece to my previous post.
