    Just took delivery of this from a well known member, I have to say this watch has been on my mind for a while since I saw it, and I only now realise exactly why...The case measures a nice 36mm with 19mm width lugs housing a Cal. 268 manual wind movement.

    There's something about the dial that just does it for me, it's very simple, yet elegant and refined and doesn't have any overpowering features, which I like! I especially like the italics "Genève"... in almost classical italic script. The raised dial furniture is rose gold, just to top it off..

    I am also very happy with the strap it arrived on, double stitched, tan. Maybe I will only decide to change to something like a dark tan calf for a more regular amount of usage, but this one really sets off the dial!

    Here are a few quick snaps;

    Very impressed by the packing techniques ;)

    I can't even take a bad picture of this watch, the way it captures the light over the dial is truly stunning :) This has already diverted my attention away from the Constellations, I may need to build up a small collection of Manual wind Omega with sub-dial now..:unsure:

    That is a real cracker! It's much nicer than other samples of this style which I have seen recently, as this one has a proper sub-dial for the second hand. Whereas the two 9k examples I looked at did not.

    Excellent choice ::love::

    I really don't think that's a good idea. You were doing perfectly fine with Connies.;)

    Pack'em so they'd survive if the plane dropped them out the side door without a parachute. :thumbsup: Glad it arrived safely!

    i missed this particular detail and had to look again. To my eye, these seem about 1/4 shorter as compared to the Connie. But, nonetheless, it has a very elegant dial! :)

    The geneve from this era was a premium watch - marketed just below the constellation. Cases were nicely styled and featured lots of detail. The 36mm geneves were even more attractive because of their size and especially with rose gold markers. While this geneve case has been polished - it still retains enough detail to show the lines that make the watch attractive to many.

    I think it's just different. I like the lugs on the connies, as they suit the dial styles IMO. What's not easy to see is the actual size of the dial, it really takes up most of the viewing.. The lugs just amplify the contours of the case.

    This was the variation that I really didn't like at all. It's the same basic thing but the sub-second hand does not have its own dial -

    Geneve_1.jpg

    To me this just looks pretty naff, so I didn't buy it. Whereas Alex's version looks properly finished off.

    Thanks John,

    However, there is one exception to the rule.. I really like Gavins Geneve. He may even post a pic of it later. I think you'll agree when you see it. ::love::

    It was ironic though that the one and only geneve chronometer (cal. 602 and the last manual wind chronometer omega produced) came at the time when the geneve cases were more simply styled. This particular geneve chronometer though is quite scarce and came only in 18k gold - I'm thinking since it was a relatively plain looking watch many cases were probably melted for their gold value over the years thus making it even harder to come by.

    That probably explains their scarcity! :( It's a shame because they're probably one of my favourite Omega's. Makes me wonder what Constellations suffered a similar fate! ::censored::

    Actually, I prefer the earlier versions without the sub-dial.
