Hello everyone,

New member here wanting to dip my toe into the world of vintage watches. I have wanted a vintage omega with a small seconds for quite sometime. I have been partial to seamasters, but this caught my eye. It has been listed for some time for a little over $800 USD. Does anything jump out to you that would call for concern of authenticity or condition? I tried to do some research and while Jumbo watches of this era, as well as cal. 266's are quite well-documented, I could find nothing regarding this reference number used in the listing: 2899-2P.

Pictures from the listing:

Any info/guidance is appreciated.

Thanks!

Its a redial, stay away from this one!

Thanks for the heads up! Would you mind explaining why, so I can spot things in the future?

The dial surface and colour looks wrong, text and logo is very sloppy and too ”black”. Sub second dial looks to be without any circular surface.
Lume on hands but not dial is also an issue.

It’s a 2800, I think (which would house the 266 movement). Also not a “jumbo”. Here’s one that sold here awhile back: https://omegaforums.net/threads/omega-2800-3-from-1955.106732/

Stick around here and read this sub forum often, and you’ll develop an eye for these things over time. But for now, avoid watch photos with these type of filters. Generally an instant giveaway that something’s amiss.

Thanks, I admit I was skeptical about the filter as well. Felt like it was masking something.
