    Good afternoon everyone,

I'm wondering if anyone here has a Tribute to Deep Sea U.S. Version in their collection. I see a lot of European versions across multiple forums, but that one is just too bland for my taste. The style and look of the U.S. is a lot more intriguing and almost perfect to me. I plan on purchasing one soon, so any thoughts/inputs/opinions are greatly appreciated. This will be my first Jaeger and I'm pretty ecstatic. Thanks a lot.

I had one until recently. It is a wonderful watch, truly faithful to the original and full of really fun idiosyncrasies. It is diver-ish, but there is no lume on the hour markers or on the second's hand. The bezel doesn't rotate, and has no way of counting elapsed time. You can time your dive by setting the alarm, but the alarm (unlike an Omega Memomatic) is only set with one indicator, so it is hard to set it for an exact time. So by 2016 standards it is really kind of an odd duck for a "dive watch".

The US dial has the added quirk of text all over the alarm disc, so any time the alarm is pointing at a time other than 12:00 it looks like the dial is installed wrong!

Finally, the OEM black leather strap it came on (not pictured) was the nicest leather strap I've ever owned, but I never wore it because I don't wear black leather shoes/belt often. It was a good watch to have in rotation but it never got more than a day on the wrist per week. I really loved it but the opportunity came up for me to trade it for a watch I've wanted for a LONG time, the VC Overseas. I don't regret it because my new VC is permanently stuck to my wrist. :)

Thanks a lot. Great new VC though! Wear it in good health. Everything you listed about the Deep Sea is what I love about it. Spot-on with the original with a wonderful vintage look.

Again, thanks for the kickass pictures. I'm waiting to get mine soon.

I think the reason that the European version is seen more often is that JLC made 959 of the European version and 359 of the US version.
Here is a side by side of both borrowed from the web:

The European model might be more practical due to the lume on the hour markers and the fact that the logo is above the alarm disc. That could be why JLC made more of them - perhaps they imagined the US dial would be more of a niche product with less demand.

Both beautiful watches. That OEM distressed strap is nice too....
in case you're curious or interested, JLC's OEM straps are (in principle) manufactured by Camille Fournet.
You can order bespoke straps from them on the internet (I have zero connection with them except I bought a couple straps from them - being a bit of a strap fiend).
    Cheers, S

I've only ever seen the one on the right. That's cool to see both.

Good luck with your search and the WTB ad... this thread has opened up a latent desire for me, a similar watch: The Deepsea Chronograph Vintage.

They pop up on forums occasionally, but are still a bit too expensive for me to splurge on a modern watch. One day though!

I had the US dial and just recently sold it. The European dial is too boring in my opinion not to mention the US dial is more rare, only 359 re editions were made. I 100% suggest looking out for the US dial over the European dial
I only wish the bezel rotated like the original, that's about the only thing I didn't like. Felt too much like a representation/tribute of what the original was rather than a real watch if you get what I'm saying.

Part of me is having sellers remorse to be honest but I did trade up for another watch that I am quite happy with!

    Here's what I traded up for :)

I've been looking for a US-DSA for some time too. They don't come up for sale that often ,and it has far more retro charm (syringe hands, a retro font etc) than the Euro-DSA which is nice but a bit bland.

@shy06002 : lovely 15202! ::love:: Was very tempted to buy your US-DSA , but sadly was out of bullets so I had to sit on the sidelines...
