Hey guys, i have here a JlC P649A from the 1940s. I was wondering if it is normal for the sub dial to differ so much in patina? Thanks for your time
A better photo of the dial would be needed for a confident assessment, but I suspect that the hands have been relumed.
Fantastic piece. Looks like you got it from Zaf so I would expect everything to be perfect. https://www.classicwatch.com/asp/viewer.asp?ref=rxr0346 Dibs please Cheers Chad
Yes you are right! I was just a little wary about the patina on the sub dial, but other than that a clean great example. and noted on the dibs Thanks
One I used to own for comparison... dial and hands still look OK to me pending a better photo. Not unusual for the lume on the hands vs. dial to age differently, and I've seen them range from light to very dark (to missing of course). Lighting conditions make a huge difference in the photos obviously. The subdial on this reference is milled out - a nice touch that reflects the overall JLC quality of the time.
Managed to get close up photos. The dial takes on different looks depending on the lighting. Needless to say i love it
