This watch was brought to me by my watch agent and its a JLC Memovox Speed Beat. I am not well versed with the JLC brand and it just so happen that this watch has that unique patina on the whole dial which attracted me. Is this a watch that JLC lovers would collect?

Caught another good looking watch. I have 2 jlc but Mil. So my suggestion would be head over to classicwatch. zaf and the team there are experts. Zaf also posts on mwr for Mil question.

Memovox are very collectable. Just remembered the is a reference thread on watchpro that might be helpful too.

My absolute fav would be the dsa. Or an e855.

Memovoxes are quite collectible, though I think the one you showed seems to have a case that's in somewhat rough shape. Interesting patina though, definitely not a redial!

The puristpro link above is pretty helpful, and one on this forum is useful too. One of the Purists, hs111, has a pretty impressive collection of Memovoxes (search using this). Another forum member Blomman has posted many lovely vintage ads for the Memovox as well, which should give your a feel of the era when they were made. They're lovely watches, especially in the bigger cases.

JLC mil watches are also on my hunt list but so far none has appeared on my sight.

 

Thanks for the help. Case is not really that bad mostly light scratches. The dial is a mystery how it turned out that way. I am not even sure what the original color of the dial is. Nice looking watch you got there. Is yours an earlier or later model compared to mine?

 

Very interesting dial condition. I've seen similar effects on dials of some blue Heuer Silverstones, so I think Gator is on to something.

 

That is interesting. This watch never came with a gold dial?

 

You could be right because not only is the second hand white but also the minute markers are in white like the one in the blue dial.
