Hi gang,

I've been looking for a vintage Memovox for a while now, and recently one came up that interests me.
I find it difficult to confirm that it's all original though, since there's very little information available about these vintage ones.

I have some info and pictures, but that's about it. Anyone more knowledgeable who can help me out here?

Cheers,
Tim

Memovox E855
1960
37mm case

Service history unknown, but it works well, including the alarm.
Original crowns and buckle.

Looks basically legit to me at first glance, although when it has apparently been re-lumed, like this one, I'd really want better photos of the dial to confirm that's all that was done (assuming you're ok with the re-lume). The case has clearly been polished at some point, but not terrible.

Incidentally, I would have posted this in the High-end watches or Other watch brands forum.

Thanks for your input!
I don't really mind the relume, prefer it over the ones that have missing hour marker lume.

These are all the pictures I have for the dial:

I've seen some that have the pearl lume on the center disk triangle, and some that don't. Were both of those original options to your knowledge?

I think it’s all about the price. If it’s a good deal then go for it but if it’s priced high you can search until you find the one that’s perfect for you.

I agree. This one can probably be had for around 3k, which is slightly below the average market price.

I was just looking for some confirmation that I didn't miss anything.
Thanks all!

After seeing the additional photos, I'm of the mind that it is a redial. The "T SWISS MADE T" should be completely under the applied marker at 6. It stood out to my eye, and after doing an image search, I'm pretty sure.

Excellent point!
I didn't notice until now.
It is indeed different from all other examples I can find.
Interesting...

I love these. Fun watches. I have a rougher non-date American market version, earlier movement, from the 50's. I prefer it to have a manual winding mechanism, as it is less likely to go off unintentionally (if I understand the autos correctly). I ran into one just as this on a recent trip to Europe. Very tempting, and with a 2 yr guarantee. If you want that lead to the storefront, PM me. BZZZZT!

I would definitely inquire on the return policy with wherever you're getting this. I've heard/seen some painful things with the center dial and alarm functions on these when not properly serviced and maintained. I've wanted one for a real long time but every time I get close to picking one up it turns out to be a dud from some angle..... It's all about the chase though right?

Good luck with this one!

This is my no-date with 3-6-9-12 dial. The bracelet is just something I slapped on.

Is that one late 60's?

Very cool

Just goes to show that you need to look everywhere for watches. I picked that up at therealreal. No lie. It was just sitting there at a bargain price amidst all the two tone DJs, Cartiers, and Panerais.

Indeed! The chase is good fun, but I was really on track with this one being "the one".
Ah well, I'll keep looking!

I'm interested in picking up one of these too. Apologies in advance if I'm hijacking your thread but maybe you can benefit from analysis of this one too.

Does this appear to be a redial? There's no Swiss marking under the 6 o'clock which makes me suspicious...

I tend to think that the dial is original, but re-lumed, and the SWISS text is hidden under the rehaut. Case looks quite soft.

Thanks for your advice, Dan. Yeah it does look a bit shiny now that you mention it.

I was more referring to the fact that the lugs look a bit thin and all the edges seem rounded. The waviness of the reflections in the bezel is also a potential warning sign. It's helpful to see angled views to judge better, and you want to see the tips of the lugs from beneath.
