JLC Chronograph advice sought

I have 2 JLC Chronographs that are approx 4 and 8 years old. The automatic rotor has stopped winding the mainspring on both watches (I have read accounts of this exact issue on other forums). I can wind the mainsprings with the crown and they operate well. I am out of warranty on both and ineligible for a warranty extension on the newer watch for whatever reason.

My question is if I should send them to be serviced by JLC or use an independent shop?

Thanks for your time and thoughts. I am all ears.

My gut feeling is to do a factory repair, but I think you might have to do some research. Do you know if independent shops even have access to JLC parts?

I dont think that independents have access to parts. Did you purchase them at the AD? If so, then maybe they can help you out on the warranty issue, at least on the newer one.

You really need to go factory service with these. You might have some luck pleading your case through an AD.

And be prepared for sticker shock, their prices are high-ish.
