路Here's a curio for the Japanese watch collector - a Japan-only Seiko 5 Sports Speed-Timer (with the JDM bracelet) from February 1974. It's a very 1970s watch... 40mm case width, 18mm lug.
It has the 6139B movement as used in the many variants of the 6139, notably the -600x "Pogue". I've seen this specific variant referred to as "Green Hornet", but that's also used for a green-dialled dive watch so I think people might be getting confused.
It is running very well now since it had a full service (disassembly, ultrasonic clean, inspect, reassemble, re-lubricate, test on timeographer etc) carried out by an Simon Wilkinson (aka Sir Alan), an independent Seiko expert in November 2017.
It had a full set of gaskets and a new crystal at the same time (look at the crystal - it stands really proud of the case ... guess that was in vogue back then; it's a Sternkreuz replacement) and Simon also added additional jewels to protect the upper and lower mainspring arbor from wear, so it's actually a 23-jewel movement now!
Let's just say the service cost was a considerable proportion of the asking price...
拢575 net incl UK delivery, overseas can be arranged at buyer's expense.
As you'd expect, the watch keeps good time, the chronograph starts, stops and resets crisply and the day and date change is accurate. The day wheel is in English and Kanji.
The bracelet is quite unusual - the notches either side of the centre links are a JDM-only feature, as is the clasp marking as "5 SPORTS". I have 2 extra links that will be included.
The dial is an amazing green sunburst finish and as far as I know, everything - except the gaskets & crystal - is original to the watch and unmolested. It's never been polished so wears its years with pride, but it's generally in good condition on the outside, and outstanding condition inside the case.
Free insured delivery in the UK, or face to face meetup welcomed - international delivery negotiable (including potential for domestic US shipment).
