I've always looked on enviously at some of the purchases recently, particularly the recent 105.003 that was less than 50 miles down the road from me! I generally pay the top end for watches although following a few moans a couple of years ago regarding the increasing price of DON bezels did pick one up for, by todays terms, a very reasonable price. Genuine Omega bracelets seem to be increasing in price rapidly and so I have been looking out for a JB Champion to go with my Forsnter Komfit. Almost pulled the trigger on a $800 JB Champion a couple of weeks ago following a rejection of my $700 offer but stumbled on this straight ended JB Champion for $80 on Etsy...I couldn't click buy quickly enough. Arrived today and its like new.....maybe my luck is changing! ( if you recently purchased a curved end JB Champion for less than $80 could you leave it a little while before posting and raining on my bonfire! )
A James Hyman relume ( i'm keeping the watch and am declaring it here on an open forum so not hiding anything! ) on the 105.003 that I got back today ( very, very happy with it....it had pretty awful, almost green puffy lume that I appreciate is not unusual with 105.003's but I couldn't live with anymore ), and the JB Champion bracelet on the 105.012 CB that also arrived today. All in all a great day!
Congratulations on the great pick up. It looks to be in fantastic condition and really completes your 105.012.
I picked up this Forstner Komfit with 19mm ends for $200. I have the 7912 bracelet that goes with the watch but I like the vintage look of the JB's and the Forstner.
I don't want to hijack this thread, but this seems like a good place to ask. Has any one built, repaired or modified a JB or Forstner with parts from multple bands?
You just hijacked the thread and the answer is: never did, because you won't hang your xx k watch on something you might not have done well enough to not break. I've se3n these broken or incomplete bracelets on the bay, but it's just like with the gold plated ones..they will never be what you want them to be.
Hmm!....does make me sound a little ungrateful doesn't it! Managed to buy them within the last 2-4 years when, while expensive in my eyes, affordable ( with the excuse that they are an inheritance for my sons! ). I would struggle now I think.
