·… but for how long?
I took an old yellow 10 k Gold Filled bracelet to our local “Ma and Pa” jewelry store.
They have three repair guys on staff. They are not watchmakers but do a lot of other stuff.
I had an old stainless steel Forstner bracelet and wanted some work done to the clasp. I brought the GF JB Champion in case they needed parts.
The Forstner was too far gone, so they polished off the gold plating and replated the bracelet to a shiny chrome look.
The jeweller is my neighbour and good friend. I hope he salvaged a bit of that gold plating.
I installed the shiny new looking bracelet on my Gruen. It is easier to operate than my modern Komfit.
Will see how long it lasts. I can still see some faint gold accents here and there… but I like it.
Here is an old pic of the bracelet before the transformation. The mesh underneath was never yellow.
Late entry. The plating is Rhodium.
