    Hi friends.
Recently, I read some essays about Japanese diving watches and I started collecting them. One thing I am very sure that I am a newbie in this field. But after a few months, I have collected about 7 or 8 (they are affordable :D)
And today I'd like to share some with you, please tell me what you think and post your Japanese Divers if you have any. Cheers.
    Hoi.

    Nice collection,
I had a 6309 in the past but could not get used to the feel of the cushion case on my wrist. And when I came to sell, I learned the differences in hands etc is subtle in terms of looks but pronounced in value! Also, learned stick to what I know and buy from decent respected sellers rather than ebay.

Maybe Hoi comes from a parallel universe ;)

Seiko divers are incredible value for money - I love my PADI, and I swim and run with it.

In fact I'm seriously thinking of getting the green PADI Turtle next.

I recently got a Seiko SBDJ011 (a JDM watch) that I'm most impressed with. All the good stuff: quartz, solar, titanium, Hardlex (almost as scratch resistant as sapphire and less crack prone), and very legible in light or dark. $500 new.

I also have a c. 2010 Omega Seamaster Professional 300 that I like a lot. It has many of the above features, (quartz, legibility,) plus sapphire. I retrofitted an Omega Ti bracelet to make it lighter. $1,800 used + $800 for the bracelet.

So, an inescapable question is, which is the better watch?

My criteria would be ruggedness (dependability of works and bracelet), ergonomics (comfort and snag-resistance), and accuracy. Beyond those, the subjective appeal is important but, well, simply subjective. Both are, to my eye, great looking.

The Seiko has a better bracelet in that it has micro adjustments and a safety clasp. The Omega has neither (Omega does make a micro-adjustable buckle, which I hope to find), and maybe its dual-side release buttons are adequately resistant to accidental opening.

The Omega is smaller (a better size, 41 mm v. 46 mm), thinner (11.8 mm v. 13 mm) and a bit rounded, so it seems less likely to snag on things. It is a bit heavier (62 g. v. 52 g., body only).

Both keep excellent time, +/- around a second per week. The Omega will need a new battery in a few years, while the Seiko never needs a new battery (and has a 10-month power reserve from just ~15 minutes in bright sunlight).

Many people will opine that, of course, the more expensive Omega is the better watch. Is it? Why? Is it more rugged and dependable? Or does it just brag a "better" brand?

All opinions welcome, but objective ones especially welcome.

    Let the fun commence!

The Seikos with the stem at the 4'o'clock remind me of the old 218 Accutrons.

I do like my Japanese divers, here's most of them:
    IMG_7270.JPG

My favourites are the 6309-7049, 7549-7000 (or "Tuna") and the 7548-700F (that's the strongly patinated, "pepsi" coloured one). I hope to add a 6105 at some point, and maybe a modern Marinemaster.
