    "This looks familiar"
    "We've made some improvements."

Might be looking into this too much but does Bond end up with a Chinese copy in Tomorrow Never Dies?

Not the actual watch in for filming but in the films story. I always thought it was a Chinese copy but now years later being as into horology as I am, it seems like she is saying they copied his watch.

Also why does he not put it on instead it goes in his pocket... like why would anyone do that.

Perhaps it was Q Branch that made the "improvements."

That's possible. From what I remember he's in a Chinese base. Even the keyboard to computer was in Chinese.

Perhaps the Chinese version of Q Branch. They are an industrious bunch, those Chinese spies. :)

That was because the once you open up the caseback, MI6 warranty is no longer valid. And Bond needs the warranty to be intact for worker insurance. That's why he couldn't wear that watch.

    Simple as that. :)

They just serviced the watch, installed serviced hands, dial and bezel. Also polished crap out of it.

If I were Bond I probably would not trust my life to a Chinese copy.
